Ontario Children's Horseback Riding Camps
Here are the general lists for camp. All are similar, there are certain differences between
horse camps so please read carefully to ensure you have what you need! See you soon!

~ Please put your name on your personal items as we cannot be responsible for lost or missing things

~ Campers will have tuck shop nightly and some comfort foods during the week,
so please do not send snacks with your child to camp.

~ Vegetarians will need to bring a package of veggie dogs and veggie burgers to supplement the camp menu
which is set up for easy substitution and works well with just one package of each supplied by parents.
(they will be kept in the camp fridge or freezer so bring them to checkin, thanks!)



(This list applies to ALL camps except those with additional 'camp specific' items ~ see below)

ALL CAMP PROGRAMS

Flashlight with your name on it
Camera
favorite book, DVD or ipod for downtime
Blue Jeans
Breeches and/or jeans for daily riding sessions
Half Chaps for English riders (strongly suggested)
Casual clothing for relaxing at night
Teeshirts for the week (some long sleeved)
sweatshirt and/or warm sweater for cool nights
Shorts (several pairs for warmer weather)
rain jacket
ball cap & sunglasses
bathing suit and towel
toiletries (toothbrush, deoderant, bandaids, etc)
anti inflammatory of choice (notify director if monitoring needed)
socks, undies, etc for the week
bug dope (we find deep woods off is best, deet works best)
suntan lotion
gloves (recommended but not mandatory)
sleeping bag and pillow
hiking shoes/boots or runners for around camp
If you have a guitar and want to bring it, great!

NOTE:  IF YOU HAVE A HELMET OF YOUR OWN THAT IS ASTM CERTIFIED, BY ALL MEANS BRING IT.
*those that don't have a helmet, we have plenty here at the farm for you*

WINTER CAMP PROGRAMS

ALL of the above, (minus obvious summer items) plus:

Warmest Sleeping Bag you can get
Extra mittens and gloves for wet days
Winter boots with a min 1 cm heel
Warm Hat that covers the ears
Helmet cover if you have one
Good quality Snow Pants and Jacket
*if you have questions be sure and write*

GOIN' SHOWIN' CAMP

ALL of the above, plus:

ENGLISH SHOW CLOTHES
(FOR CHILDREN RIDING ENGLISH)

For Hunter Classes, the full jacket is best. 
For Jumper Classes, white show shirt or tidy polo shirt. 

Riding Boots
(black rubber or leather english riding boots or half chap system)

English Show Jacket (any color)
Check for 'look alikes' which are quite suitable at Value Village

English shirt (white or light colors)
Cotton, no sleeves for summer - 'lookalikes' or turtlenecks are fine, collared is best

Breeches (any color, beige is best)
(Greenhawk sometimes has packages with helmets, etc reasonably prices) 

Gloves (Black riding gloves)
Usually under ten bucks at most tack stores

Hair Net (mandatory at most shows)
Available at any drug or tack store, helps keep hair tidy

Helmet Cover (for those with their own helmets that are colored)
Black helmet covers are inexpensive and really look nice!

 

WESTERN SHOW CLOTHES
(FOR CHILDREN RIDING WESTERN)


Riding Boots
(cowboy boots, paddock boots, or an ankle height lace up street style boot with a small heel)
*WE DO HAVE SOME IF NEEDED

Western Shirt
(colorful, cotton button down long or short sleeved shirt, with collar - must have sleeves & tuck in)
Value Village is great for this - find something colorful with a button down collar that is light cotton and comfortable on a hot day.

Blue Jeans
(straight leg, no bell bottoms please) 
The simpler (and longer) the better! If you want to dress it up with a belt and buckle, feel free! 

 



ADULT CAMP PROGRAMS

ALL of the above, (EXCLUDING SHOW MATERIALS) plus:

'Refreshments' for after riding
Lawnchair (for our nightly fire)
Cooler for your refreshments to keep at the cabin
Earplugs (if you can't stand snoring)
