WESTERN SEAT
| Rookie | has ridden unassisted at the walk and jog, and feels comfortable on horses |
| Novice | comfortable at walk and jog and is learning to lope |
| Intermediate | comfortable at walk, jog and lope, some basic understanding of leads |
| Advanced | comfortable at all gaits, knows leads well & can lope quickly without fear |
| Counselor Training Level | excellent barnsmanship, comfortable at all gaits & gallop, simple lead changes, understands curb bits and articifial aids (crops, spurs) and has some experience with training green horses with a good understanding of barn safety |
ENGLISH SEAT
| Rookie | has ridden unassisted at the walk and trot, and feels comfortable on horses |
| Novice | comfortable at walk and trot, and is learning to canter |
| Intermediate | comfortable at walk, trot and canter, has just begun learning to jump crossrails & feels confident |
| Advanced | comfortable at all gaits, knows leads & diagonals, can jump a course of verticals with confidence |
| Counselor Training Level | excellent barnsmanship, comfortable at all gaits & gallop, jumping 2'6" & over courses with confidence,
simple lead changes, understands bits and articifial aids (crops, spurs) and has some experience
with training green horses with a good understanding of barn safety
