2020 SUMMER DAY CAMP
Riding Day Camp
We have run horse camps safely and effectively at our farm in Maynooth for NINETEEN years! Don’t skimp on the quality of your camp choice, make sure it’s a safe, quality program! Our riding horses and lesson program is built on teaching confidence. We teach all levels of riding, and offer a comprehensive Day Camp with two extended lessons a day and plenty of one on one horse time with our safe, quiet horses.
Camp runs Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 4 pm
(later pickups are possible, check with Penny)
CAMP PROGRAM RUNS IN JULY & AUGUST ONLY
Meet The Coaches
Penny & husband Matt built Highland Wilderness Tours since 2001, from the ground up, using their passion for horses as a guide. Prior to that had, they had over 20 years of riding and showing experience. Everything from horse pack trips to English & Western training, coaching, and showing, there’s plenty of knowledge to spread to our Day Campers. Building the property and all of the riding programs from scratch, gathering and training the horses, and refining the program for over nineteen years, they are still hands on, and run day to day operations in person. Safety & fun is number ONE.
In nineteen years, the property went from scrubby bush to 8 km of trails on site. There’s a new barn, indoor riding arena, hot walker, round pen and three outdoor rings, including a dressage and a jumper ring. Plenty of room to ride, and enjoy horses! And of course, Penny & Matt have proactively developed a solid Covid Safety program for summer camps. Read about our Covid Protocols here.
Just outside Maynooth Ontario, on East Lake Road, which is just off of Hwy 127 just north of Maynooth. See Google maps below for clickable directions.

Day Camp Information
Your kids have been patient. Time for a reward!
TWO extensive lessons a day, plus horse management and safe horse handling lessons sprinkled in throughout the day. No crafts here, we RIDE!! It’s quality horse time for the price.
Beginners and Advanced riders will take seperate lessons, so that we can give maximum learning time. Beginners usually learn to trot and possibly do a first canter before the week is over. Advanced riders will practice the basics of dressage and jumping, with some over fence work if rider skill allows. We have a full service facility, so can build a great DAY CAMP riding program. We always focus on safety!
Day Camp follows the fantastic ‘teach up’ lesson guidelines of our regular camp, so our kids stay busy. We have fantastic horses that we have had a LONG time, so your child will be able to relax and learn essential riding skills all week long without worries.
Camp runs in July & August, Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 4 pm (later pickups possible if needed) Availability is subject to government decisions in the coming weeks, as well as overall enrollment interest by week. Text 613-334-9105 for details, or email us using the form below. We welcome any questions.
We take a maximum of EIGHT TOTAL CAMPERS each week, so that we can properly social distance at all times. Campers will need to bring a packed lunch, and a favorite beverage for lunch, or a refillable water bottle for the day. A lawn chair and a packed lunch means they can practice social distancing while they are taking snack breaks or eating lunch. Pretty simple! On rainy days, we can eat in the indoor riding arena, and maintain our distancing.
One week is $450, taxes in
(discounts for multiple weeks)
