for Ontario CabinRentals...

In SUMMER it’s Trail Riding at South Algonquin Trails, twenty minutes down the road. You can fish, swim, bike, hike, and boat—it’s all right here! In the WINTER it’s Snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and even making snow angels. All these activities are convenient to enjoy during your stay. Our bunkie rental cabins are available from April to November, with our new winterized, full-sized cabin now open for 2024.

Important notes by season....

DEC - MAR

The only cabin we have to rent during the winter months is Meadowlark #5. It has a safe propane furnace, is insulated, and has a glass-fronted woodstove (for those capable to run it) Remember, they are outdoor privvies so bring slip-on boots. If you have a small portable generator to bring along, the interior is wired with outlets. You will be cooking on the outdoor bbq and can take bird baths from a basin for those staying longer than a few days.

No generator? No problem. There are solar lights inside and the heat works without hydro. For those who love a bit of nature in the finest season of all, this is your time. Snowmobilers welcome, there’s plenty of parking and the cabin sleeps up to six or more people.

APR - MAY

All five cabins are available to rent but only Meadowlark #5, Deer Meadow #1 and Cozy Cabin #2 have heat. If you are staying in Fox Den #3 or Moose Run #4 (no heat) bring warm sleeping bags, toques, and cabin slippers or you will be chilly at night. This is a great time of year up here, the animals are waking up and you are more likely to see wildlife.

You will cook outside, and if it’s not that warm out, you will need to use a basin inside for bathing. During nice weather, the cabins are plenty warm thanks to the solar effect of sunshine through the many windows.

April can bring snow, but the cabins are usually accessible by vehicle. If not, Matt will run you and your gear out with the ranger. It is a 9-minute walk to the parking lot from Cabin #1 & 2, and about a fifteen-minute walk from Cabin #3 & 4. April can be snowy, but by May 1st all is usually clear.

JUNE-AUG

June starts out moderate but can get up to 29 degrees in the latter part. The cabins can be very warm in June and July which is why we provide a small fan. You will need to bring D-cell batteries for it, but it can be handy, especially at night up in the loft.

We provide screen tents, however, be aware that if you leave food in them and they are damaged by wildlife as a result, you will be charged for the tent. Please be responsible with food to avoid this issue.

The flip side is that this is premium swimming weather, and we are close to three great beaches with many more in the area, and thousands of lakes for fishing.

Cabins are fully accessible at this time of year, with August being the premium time thanks to the bugs dying down at the end of July. We take down the screen tents around September 1st as they are no longer needed. Fall colors run from Sept 21 – Oct 10 generally.

SEPT-NOV

The cabins are fully accessible during this time unless we get a freak snowstorm in November. Yes, you will probably see snow in November but it’s not usually enough to keep us from accessing the cabins by vehicle.

You will cook outside, and if it’s not that warm out, you will need to use a basin inside for bathing. During nice weather, the cabins are plenty warm thanks to the solar effect of sunshine through the many windows.

We close Cabin #3 & #4 after Thanksgiving but keep the rest open until November 15th, as their heaters are usually effective down to minus 15. Meadowlark #5 is definitely warm year round because it is insulated, but Deer Meadow #1 and Cozy Cabin #2 are not insulated and close mid Nov.
